Published in Daily News Egypt on 26 - 04 - 2014

A number of land plots have been allocated to projects aimed at improving the standard of living in six different governorates, Minister of Agriculture Ayman Abu Hadid said on Friday.
The Friday statement noted that the minister has approved the construction of a natural gas station in Sohag Governorate over an area of 1440 metres, with two other development projects planned in the same governorate.
Abu Hadid also approved the establishment of a store over an area of 2 acres to stock building materials in Gharbeya, and the construction of 5 schools in Sohag, Daqahleya, Kafr Al-Sheikh and Fayoum governorates.
The ministry did not specify the cost of the projects.
Aiming to develop Egypt's governorates, the cabinet approved in March the implementation of nine new infrastructure projects at a total cost of EGP 391.6m.
As part of this, a water station in Assiut has been approved for construction at a cost of EGP 50m "in order to increase the current insufficient water supply in the governorate," the cabinet said.
In Qaliubiya Governorate, three roads will be upgraded: two roads in Banha city, at a cost of EGP 17.9m; and one road in the Ahmed Orabi area, at a cost of EGP 22.1m. EGP 26.6m was also set aside to develop a square in Qaliubiya.
The government allocated EGP 85m to develop roads and build water and sanitation stations Badr City, Cairo Governorate, according to the statement.
Among the development projects that have been implemented in fiscal year 2013/2014, Minister of Planning Ashraf El-Araby stated in March that a number of drinking water stations have been completed in various governorates, including Giza, Gharbeya, Sharqeya, Ismailia, Menufiya, Sohag, Aswan and Mansheya in Alexandria, costing EGP 794m.
El-Araby also announced the establishment of 131 health units at a cost of EGP 100m, and sanitation service stations in Sohag, Menufiya and Damietta at a cost of EGP 963.5m.
