Egypt said revenue from the Suez Canal rose 6 percent in July. Receipts advanced to $406.2 million from $382.9 million a year earlier, according to data published today on the cabinet's website. The canal generated $4.54 billion in the fiscal year that ended in June, Ahmed Fadel, chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, said on July 26. In July, 1,554 vessels crossed the waterway, carrying 71.9 million tons of cargo, according to the cabinet's website. The waterway is one of Egypt's main sources of hard currency, along with tourism and foreign direct investment.
