Published in Daily News Egypt on 03 - 06 - 2007

CAIRO: Minister of Trade and Industry Rachid Mohammed Rachid and Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa will attend the 11th International Economic Forum in Saint-Petersburg on June 8-10, said Alexander Esyutin, head of the Russian trade representation mission in Cairo. During the visit, Rachid will meet with Minister of Economic Development and Trade G. Gref to discuss promising fields of cooperation between the two sides, and discuss which projects will be set up in the special Russian industrial zone in Borg El Arab, Esyutin added. Explaining the importance of cooperating with Egypt and the visit, Esyutin said Rachid will be the only minister to meet with Gref on the fringes of the widely-attended forum. Other meetings are planned between Rachid and Russian Minister of Industry and Energy V. Kristenko and two of the first deputies of Russian Prime Minister M. Fradkov, Esyutin noted. The visit follows Chairman of the Industrial Development Authority (IDA) Amr Assal's visit to Russia which ended Friday.
Assal met with representatives of the Federal Industrial Agency (Rosprom) to discuss further steps to set up various projects in the Russian special zone. The visit also follows visits by Russian delegations, including the visit of Kristenko two months ago and visits by representatives from Russian companies, such as Vaz, Gas, and Aviation Corporation (MIG). A big Egyptian delegation is expected to attend the forum, including Galal El-Zorba, chairman of the Federation of Egyptian Industries, Mohamed Shafik Gabr, head of Egypt s International Economic Forum, Mohamed Abdel Fadil, chairman of Venus International Loading Company and Ibrahim Kamel, who produces TU-204 passenger planes in Russia . An estimated 7,000 top officials and businessmen from all-over the world will attend the forum.
