CAIRO: Egyptian President Mohamed Mursi will travel to Brazil on Tuesday for a two-day-visit to boost economic cooperation and attract investments. Mursi is scheduled to meet his Brazilian counterpart Dilma Rousseff on his first visit to South America, reported the state news agency. Mursi's visit to Brazil follows his trips to the four other members states of the BRICS group, namely Russia, India, China and South Africa. Egypt hopes to join the association of emerging economies. “The president's visit to Brazil aims at strengthening commercial, economic and industrial cooperation and to attract more Brazilian investments," his spokesperson Ihab Fahmy said. Fahmy added that Egypt wishes to learn from Brazil's experience in the eradication of poverty and the elimination of slums. He pointed to Brazil's outstanding example in achieving economic and social development and also in the field of democratization. BN
