CAIRO: Seven people were killed and two others wounded in a collision on Sunday, between two microbuses near the Egypt resort town of Abu Soma, south of Hurghada on the Red Sea coast. The crash left four German tourists dead, along with the two drivers and another Egyptian traveler. The injured were taken into the General Hospital in Hurghada to receive treatment, including two more German tourists. Police officials said the crash took place early on Sunday morning on the Safaga-Hurgada road. The incident resulted in the death of Shazli Mustafa, Taha Khalaf, drivers, and the four Germans, Daniel Apop, and Tustin Nubic, Mantrata Felli and Frank Putin. Among the dead is also Amr Mohsen, 36, a local worker. At the time of writing this article, the German Embassy in Cairo has yet to issue a statement about the fatal accident. It is the latest in what is near daily road or highway accidents in Egypt, which on average leave some 6,000 people dead annually. Many blame the poor roads, lack of seatbelts and speeding as the major causes of fatal accidents in the country.
