RAMALLAH: Hundreds marched in Ramallah, Jerusalem, and Bethlehem on Wednesday night after Israel assassinated Ahmad Jabari in the Gaza Strip, Hamas military chief and mastermind behind the kidnapping of Gilad Shalit. In Ramallah, hundreds assembled in Al-Manara Square at 7:00 pm. A large crowd of Palestinian demonstrators swelled when a group of approximately fifty foreign activists marched to the square and joined their ranks. “Free, free Palestine," internationals chanted as they approached Al-Manara. Demonstrators marched throughout the city without police interference. “One nation—Gaza and the West Bank," they cried. “God is great," a smaller group rang out repeatedly. “We are all Gaza!" others said. “I'm here because of Gaza, because of what [Israel] is doing to Palestinians in Gaza right,” one protester told BikyaMasr.com. Israel killed Jabari in a targeted assassination after an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire had been agreed upon. According to Ha'aretz, Israeli Air Forces struck over 20 sites in Gaza on Wednesday afternoon. An additional six Palestinians were killed, medical sources said. Israeli officials rejected Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi's demand that Israel halt attack on Gaza. Ha'aretz reported that several rockets have been fired from Gaza since Jabari's assassination, including one that was aimed for the Dimona nuclear reactor. The Popular Committee for Resistance has vowed to avenge Jabari's death. RT reported that Israeli warships in the Mediterranean Sea have fired on Gaza's coast. Earlier this week Israeli officials openly spoke about launching a full on ground invasion to end rocket attacks on southern Israel. Other protests reportedly took place in East Jerusalem and Bethlehem. Hundreds stood outside Defense Minister Ehud Barak's home in Tel Aviv and screamed, “Barak, Barak, how many kids did you kill today?" reports Jerusalem Post. A solidarity demonstration in Cairo was scheduled for 8:00 pm, media outlets reported.
