DUBAI: Oman's telecom operator Omantel has selected Ericsson to build its 4G network and transform its Radio Access Network (RAN). Samy Ahmed Abdulqadir Al Ghassany, COO if Omantel, said “Ericsson's track record in LTE makes it the perfect foundation to support Omantel in providing the service,” a statement said. The agreement “marks the beginning of a new managed services partnership between the two companies, in which Ericsson provides Omantel with operational efficiency and improved network quality,” the statement added. The goal for Oman in developing the 4G network is to bring it onto par with other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries in terms of Internet and mobile services.
