CAIRO: The international hacktivist group Anonymous attacked and defaced a number of Uganda government websites, including the website of the Prime Minister, in support for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) rights in the country. It comes as the government has passed a series of anti-gay laws, including one that outlaws all gay activity with the death penalty possible. “Your violations of the rights of LGBT people have disgusted us,” the message from Anonymous read. “ALL people have the right to live in dignity free from the repression of someone else's political and religious beliefs. You should be PROUD of your LGBT citizens, because they clearly have more balls than you will ever have.” It added; “Real Ugandan Pride is demonstrated in standing up to oppression despite fearing the abuse, torture and murder inflicted on LGBT at the hands of the corrupt government.” The website of the Uganda Justice Law and Order Sector was also hacked with the message appearing for users visiting the site. It also comes days after Uganda's LGBT community held the first gay pride event in the country. The Anonymous hacking also featured a picture from the celebrations.
