KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's football team announced it is to train in Vienna from August 4 to 16 in an effort to help prepare for the AFF Suzuki Cup this November. Defending Champions Malaysia hope they have the training push them forward in their effort repeat. The biennial tournament was held in Jakarta in 2010. Coach K. Rajagopal said the 28-player squad will play three friendly matches against Austrian professional clubs. “I will name the final squad after these matches," he told reporters. Rajagopal hopes that Mohd Safee Sali, Ahmad Shakir Mohd Ali, Yong Kuong Yong and Khairul Fahmi Che Mat, who are struggling with injuries, will recover in time for the tournament. Malaysia are drawn in Group B, which will be played at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil from Nov 24-Dec 2, with Suzuki Cup runners-up Indonesia, three-time champions Singapore and the second placed qualifier. Group A, comprising Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines and the qualifying round winners, will be held at the Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok. The qualifying round, in Myanmar from Oct 5-13, will involve Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Timor Leste and the host country.
