DUBAI: Arriving in Dubai on Tuesday afternoon, Finnish climber Atte Miettinen was all smiles as he was greeted by his wife, Delanii, after having reach the top of the world's 7 highest peaks. “It feels surreal," the 36-year-old climber told reporters at the Dubai airport shortly after he landed. “The feeling of accomplishment is still sinking in. Completing the Seven Summits has been a dream for many years. It feels amazing to see it come true," Miettinen was quoted by XPRESS. “I am looking forward to being in Dubai. I've been living in a tent for months, it will be nice to get back to a normal routine," he said. The final peak reached was Alaska's 6,196 meter tall Mount Denali, which Miettinen summitted on June 22 to complete the arduous challenge. The Finnish climber has become the first Emirates resident and first Finnish climber to have completed the 7-peak challenge. The peaks include Mount Kilimanjaro (5,895 meters) in Tanzania, Elbrus (5,642 meters) in Russia, Cerro Aconcagua (6,962 meters) in Argentina, Carstensz Pyramid (4,884 meters) in Indonesia/Australia, Vinson Massif (4,897 meters) in Antarctica, Denali (6,196 meters) in North America, and Mount Everest (8,850 meters) in Nepal.
