CAIRO: Egypt's High Presidential Elections Commission (HPEC), under Counselor Farouq Sultan, President of the Supreme Constitutional Court issued several decisions on procedures for organizing the electoral process. The Commission decided to refer all violations, which constitute crimes in the previous period, whether by the candidates or their supporters to the prosecution for investigation. HPEC also ordered referral of disqualified presidential candidate Hazem Salah Abu Ismail to the public prosecution for investigation over charges of forging official papers. Abu Ismail had stated in his presidential election papers that his mother, Nawal Abdel-Aziz, did not carry anything but Egyptian nationality, while official documents and letters confirmed that she has carried a US passport since October 2006, according to a report issued by Egypt's State Information Service. Meanwhile, the former Salafi presidential hopeful lashed out at the mass media and accused them of propagating false news that he was behind the deadly clashes in Abbassiya.
