CAIRO: Egypt's State media will abide by impartial coverage of presidential elections, as was affirmed by Information Minister Ahmed Anis. In press statements Thursday, Anis said that a full, integrated plan has been drawn up to cover the upcoming elections on the TVs and radios. “Every presidential candidate will have equal access to the media,” the minister said, adding that “television is giving equal air time to each nominee.” These statements were made available to Bikyamasr.com, through Egypt's State Information Service. Minister Anis pointed out that an independent committee will monitor and follow-up performance of various TV channels and radio stations during the upcoming elections. He added that the committee will submit its remarks to the Higher Presidential Elections Commission. Presidential elections will take place on May 23-24, and the president will be named on June 21 after a runoff voting round on June 16-17.
