New Delhi (dpa) – Tibetan exiles Thursday staged a protest outside the venue of the ministerial talks between India and China in New Delhi. Draped in Tibetan flags and holding anti-China placards, a dozen protesters gathered in front of Hyderabad House where Indian Foreign Minister SM Krishna was holding bilateral talks with his Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi. “The demonstrators who were shouting pro-freedom slogans made an attempt to enter the premises but the police detained nine of them,” police officer DM Bahuguna said. No one was injured. The protest was organized by the Tibetan Youth Congress, which said that China could not discuss border issues with India before giving freedom to Tibet. The protest was also against China's continued occupation of Tibet, the demonstrators said. At least 20 Tibetans have set fire to themselves in China in the past 13 months.
