Moscow (dpa) – Russian and Ukrainian intelligence agents have thwarted a planned attack on Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, media reports said Monday. The suspected attackers were arrested in the Ukrainian Black Sea city of Odessa, Kremlin-controlled Channel One television reported without naming its sources. The would-be assassins were reportedly already on an international list of wanted terrorists. The report said the members of the gang were planning to kill Putin in Moscow after presidential elections on 4 March. News of the alleged attacks came as Putin is running for the presidency, which he held between 1999 and 2008.
