Johannesburg (dpa) – Two buses have collided in north-east Nigeria, killing all 32 people on board, local media reported Friday, citing officials. Federal Road Safety Commission spokesman Malam Ibrahim Geidam said the two commercial buses crashed on Thursday in Yobe state. Both buses were believed to have been speeding and trying to change lanes when they crashed into each other and caught fire. Meanwhile, in south-eastern Nigeria, a truck loaded with two large containers lost control and killed 18 people. According to the Vanguard newspaper, local officials laid out nails, in an effort to force the truck to stop so they could collect transport fees. The driver lost control and the massive containers fell out, crushing people who were on nearby buses.
