CAIRO: The United States is looking to grant Egypt $330 million in aid, Ambassador to Egypt Anne Patterson told Egypt's Finance Minister Hazem al-Beblawy. The two were meeting to discuss the Egyptian economy and Patterson said that Washington would continue to support Egypt's push toward a return to stability following the political upheaval earlier this year. Patterson was only recently appointed to Egypt and has been in the country for less than one month. The talks also tackled the possibility of holding meetings in Cairo to discuss the needs of the Egyptian economy. Beblawy said the Egyptian economy has begun to recover since the disruptions following the January 25 Revolution, adding that tourism rates have begun to improve. Beblawy called on the international community to invest in Egypt to ensure the success of the January 25 Revolution and create more job opportunities. In preparation for the G8 summit, Beblawy also met with David Cameron's special envoy the G8. The summit will be held next week in Marseille, France, where leaders of the world's eight largest economies will discuss the world economy as well as financial and technical cooperation with Egypt.
