CAIRO: The Egyptian government announced it had made two natural gas discoveries in the Nile Delta and the Mediterranean Sea. The ministry of oil said that the new discoveries will boost the country's reserves by some 194 billion cubic feet and two million barrels. Egypt is Africa's third-largest natural gas country in terms of reserves, with some 78 trillion cubic feet. According to the ministry, the two new discoveries represent a 0.2 percent increase to Egypt's gas reserves. Egypt produces about 6 billion cubic feet of gas and 10.4 million barrels of condensates daily. Domestic gas consumption in 2Q2011 was 429 billion cubic feet, according to Ministry of Petroleum statistics. BM
