As college football enters its third week of the 2010 season, so far very few teams are disappointing anyone, doing exactly what most people predicted they would. The result is fans of the big BCS schools are happy, at least for now, until later in the season when apparently every team with at least ten wins belongs in the championship game. But for now, most people are happy in the world of college football. Unless you happen to be the North Carolina Tar Heels or the men of Troy from southern California, and even one of them got a reprieve this weekend beating Minnesota rather handily. So without further ado here is how the top twenty-five teams in the nation faired this week. The Featured Games of the Week #11 Wisconsin-20 Arizona State-19 It took fourth quarter heroics for the Badgers (3-0) to escape being upset by the Sun Devils (2-1). Wisconsin's John Clay rushed for 123 yards and scored the go-ahead touchdown in the third quarter and Scott Tolzien threw nineteen times for 246 yards and a touchdown. But perhaps, Jay Valai who blocked an extra point attempt by Arizona State that would have tied the game, made the biggest play of the game. Wisconsin is now 9-1 in its last ten games against Pac-10 teams. #7Oklahoma-27 Air Force-24 Oklahoma managed to hold on to a win despite giving up 458 total yards to the Falcons (2-1) and being outscored in the fourth quarter 14-0. The Sooners, who have made a habit of late of losing close games, no doubt have to be happy about getting the win against Air Force #25 Oregon State-35 Louisville-28 It looked like the Beavers (1-1) were possibly going to be exiting the top 25 but a late pick, by James Dockery, ended a potential tying offensive drive by the Cardinals (1-2). Oregon State may have been caught looking ahead to their matchup next week against #3Boise State and is more than likely taking a sigh of relief after getting the W against Louisville. Everyone Else #1Alabama-62 Duke-13 Mark Ingram rushed for 151 yards and scored two touchdowns while quarterback Greg McElroy threw for three more touchdowns for the Crimson Tide (3-0). Duke (1-2) never really challenged being down 28-3 after the first quarter. #2Ohio State-43 Ohio-7 The Buckeyes (3-0) had 438 yards of offense to the Bobcats (1-2) 163. OSU Quarterback Terrelle Pryor completed 22 for 29 passes, including sixteen straight at one point as the Buckeyes rolled. #3Boise State- 51 Wyoming-6 The Broncos (2-0) were up 17-0 at the end of the first quarter and 34-0 by the half. They never slowed down on the way to scoring 51 points. #4TCU-45 Baylor-10 The Horned Frogs (3-0) have now won 16 straight home games as they churned out 558 total yards of offense and left the Bears (2-1) far behind. #5Oregon-69 Portland State-0 In truth this game was never meant to be more than an easy win. It played out like that as the Ducks (3-0) were up 45 points at half time and never looked back en route to destroying the Vikings (1-2). #6Texas-24 Texas Tech-14 Texas Tech (2-1) hung around the whole game but a crucial scoring drive by the Longhorns (3-0) in the fourth quarter put them up by ten and ultimately sealed a Texas win. #8Nebraska-56 Washington-21 The Cornhuskers (3-0) started scoring early and were up 28-14 at the half. They never looked back as they cruised to a 35 point win over the Huskies (1-2). #9 Iowa-27 #24Arizona-34 The Hawkeyes (2-1) made an attempt to come back in the fourth quarter but weren't able to prevent the upset in the Wildcats (3-0) extremely loud home stadium. #10Florida-31 Tennessee-17 A Volunteers (1-2) team kept it close in the first half but in the end could not stop the Gators (3-0) from getting their sixth straight win against them. #12Arkansas-31 Georgia-24 A late touchdown for the Razorbacks (3-0) carried them to a win over the Bulldogs (1-2). #13South Carolina-38 Furman-19 The Gamecocks started 3-0 for the first time in three years as they romped past Furman (1-1). #14Utah-56 New Mexico-14 A struggling Lobos team did not pose any real challenge to the Utes (3-0). New Mexico has given up the most points (180) of any FBS team. #15LSU-29 Mississippi State-7 The LSU Tigers (3-0) did not blow away the Bulldogs of Miss. State but they didn't need to as they held them scoreless. Josh Kasper kicked five field goals for LSU setting a school record. #16 Auburn-27 Clemson-24 A late touchdown by Clemson (2-1) forced overtime but Auburn escaped on Wes Byrum's 39 yard field goal. #17Miami (FL) Bye #18USC-32 Minnesota-21 The Trojans (3-0) overpowered the Gophers (1-2) finishing strong with thirteen fourth quarter points. #19Stanford-68 Wake Forest-24 The Cardinal (3-0) lit up Wake Forest (2-1) for 535 yards of offense on their way to scoring 68 points. #20Michigan-42 Massachusets-37 The Wolverines (3-0) avoided a scare from the FCS Minutemen (2-1) who outscored Michigan 20-7 in the fourth quarter. #21West Virginia-31 Maryland-17 The Mountaineers were effective both on the ground and in the air as they cruised past the Terrapins. #22Penn State-24 Kent State-0 A fast start by the Nittany Lions (2-1) carried them to a win over the Golden Flashes who were held to just 228 total yards of offense. #23Houston-13 UCLA-31 Houston came into the game expecting to win but instead fell to the unranked Bruins (1-2).
