Military strike against Syria is not in the interest of any state in the region, visiting Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad Javad Zarif said in Baghdad Sunday. Speaking at a joint press conference with his Iraqi counterpart Hoshyar Zebari, Zarif warned the U.S. against military action in Syria, saying that a political solution was the way to end the conflict. He indicated that both the Iranian and Iraqi sides condemn the use of chemical weapon in the region due to the fact that both the Iraqi and Iranian people were victims of such weapons in the past. On his part, Zebari affirmed his country's stance towards finding a political solution to the Syrian crisis.Any military strike against Syria will affect other countries in the region, affirmed the Iraqi minister. Zarif's visit to Iraq is considered the first of a high-ranking Iranian official, since the formation of the new Iranian cabinet, and at times of increasing tension in the region with an expected US military attack on Syria
