Utilities Minister Opens A Water Purification Plant in Qena

Dr. Abdel-Kawi Khalifa, Minister of Utilities, sewage and waste, accompanied by Governor of Qena Major General Adel Labib, opened a water purification plant in Qena at a cost of EGP 80 million. The plant, which operates with a capacity of 17,000 cubic meters/ per day, is built on a space of 12 acres, and will benefit 150,000 people.
The Minister stated that he has discussed the problem of sanitation with the governor of Qena and that they reached an agreement to present urgent solutions to these problems. In this respect, he noted that 11 new projects for drinking water and 28 projects for sanitation will be carried out in Qena at a total cost of EGP two billions. He further noted that these projects will be launched upon completion and that they will eliminate the problems of drinking water and sanitation in different cities and centers of the governorate.
