Alaa Alddin Saba (born in 1960) is the founder of Beltone Financial, an investment bank in the MENA region, operating in the fields of Asset Management, Corporate Finance, Brokerage, Private Equity, Research and Custody. Beltone Financial has offices in Egypt, UAE, Libya, London and the USA.
Education:
Mr. Saba holds the MBA in Business Administration from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, and a Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. He obtained a BSc degree in Biomedical Engineering from Cairo University.
Earlier Careers:
Aladdin was on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of EFG-Hermes, and Managing Director of Asset Management. He co-founded Hermes Financial in 1994, one of the leading investment banking institutions in Egypt, and in 1996 merged with the Egyptian Financial Group to form EFG-Hermes. Aladdin was Vice President of Kidder, Peabody-New York, and in 1991, co-founded its Middle East regional office in Cairo.
Board Memberships and Affiliations:
He is a founding member of the Egyptian Investment Management Association EIMA in addition to the Egyptian Capital Markets Association (ECMA). EIMA membership is for financial institutions working in the field of asset management such as; Banks, Fund Managers, Portfolio Managers, Financial Advisory, and Insurance Companies.
He is on the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), Orascom Construction Industries (OCI) (OCIC.CA) and GB Auto (AUTO.CA).
Additionally, Saba is member of the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) Index Committee, which was established by the Chairman of EGX on 7 April 2004. The EGX Index Committee is an independent committee, made up of 9 members. Objectives of the EGX Index Committee are to; professionalize the index management of EGX by bringing transparency to it, ensure that global standards are applied in the Index Rules, oversee the ongoing management of the indices and changes to Index Rules, advise on the construction and methodology of new indices, and initiate the development of transaction based indices such as ETFs on indices or options and futures on indices.
