Egypt's Cabinet approved Wednesday the allocation of 809.5 feddans or 340,0613 square metres to establish a new urban community in the Nile Delta city of Mansoura.
Earlier in August, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi issued a decree on building a new city in Mansoura, 128 km north of Cairo in the Nile Delta.
The decree approved the re-allocation of 5,104 feddans or 21.4 million square metres of the state-owned lands to the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA) to be used in establishing a new urban community namely the New Mansoura City, Egypt's Housing Minister Moustafa Madbouly said.
"The city will include touristic housing, villas, and medium-income and social housing, in addition to regional university and technological industrial development zones," Madbouly further said, referring that it is expected to have more than 150,000 housing units to home around 680,000 citizens.
The Cabinet also ratified to assign two land plots in order to execute Luxor International Painting Symposium over 4,976 square metres as well as vegetables and fruits market project in Luxor over 20,999 square metres.
