Egypt communications minister heads to US to promote IT businesses
Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 12 - 03 - 2017

Egyptian Minister of Communication and Information Technology Yasser Al-Qadi left Saturday for the United States in a work visit to the west coast and New York.
This visit from 13 to 23 March comes to promote the stimulating work environment of the communication and information technology (CIT) sector in Egypt and to activate strategic Egyptian-American partnerships in the field of advanced technologies and industries.
This mission is in line with the mandates of the president to create a promising electronics industry within three years, along with a base of experts in advanced technological areas starting with 16,000 trainees. The mandates also include establishing technological parks across the republic to serve as technology deployment centres that will promote the telecommunications industry in the Egyptian market.
Al-Qadi's visit will include meetings with the executive leadership of several multinational companies, such as Oracle, SAP, General Electric, Dell, Cisco, HP, Synopsys, Honeywell, and Infor, as well as other companies in the field of big data management, such as Cloudera. This is in addition to meetings with payment services companies, such as Visa and MasterCard, and major international companies in the field of call centres and outsourcing, such as TelePerformance. The minister will also meet with a range of representatives from academic institutions to discuss cooperation in the field of technological innovation and entrepreneurship.
The Egyptian CIT sector has been very attractive to major international technology companies, where most companies choose Egypt for developing products and establishing technical support call centres, considering its advantages and investment incentives, in addition to highly trained labour.
