Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 28 - 05 - 2016

Imagine Cup Regional Finals 2016 will be hosted in the American University in Cairo (AUC), in cooperation with Microsoft, on May 28-29.
Imagine Cup is a global student technology competition which gives worldwide students an opportunity to showcase their creativity and capability in making fantastic games and applications that can bring impact to the world.
The competition aims to break new ground, solve tough problems facing the world today, turn ideas into a business and learn new technological skills.
The competition consists of three categories: innovation, games and world citizenship. Teams will make an original technology project from start to finish. They come up with an idea, make a plan, build a project and submit it to Imagine Cup. It can be either purely software or a combination of software and hardware. Winners get a trip to World Finals to compete in Seattle, Washington, U.S.A. as well as $50,000.
The Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC) hosted the Imagine Cup Nationals' finals at TIEC premises. Nationals' semifinals round one was held on April 2, nationals' semifinals round two took place on April 9 and nationals' finals were held on April 16.
Three Egyptian teams won in the national finals and will take part in the regional competition. The three teams chosen in the three different categories of the competition are Chem team in the games category, Animtractor in the innovation category and Vditory in the world citizenship category.
In July 2015, a number of 33 teams were flown to Microsoft's hometown of Seattle for the Imagine Cup 2015 Worldwide Finals. The teams competed for the top spot in Games, Innovation or World Citizenship categories, and then faced off in a live round, on stage before an audience of thousands. A team from Brazil was crowned the champion in last year's competition.
