Sony Announces Free Ice-Cream Sandwich Upgrade For Sony TabletTM Devices
Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 10 - 05 - 2012

the leading consumer electronics brand, today announced a technology evolution for its Sony TabletTM devices through a free Android 4.0.3 (Ice Cream Sandwich) update to offer a more sophisticated multimedia experience to consumers.
The latest Android Version 4.0.3 brings new features and operating system enhancements to Sony TabletTM. In addition to a major user interface overhaul, the update offers a number of new Sony-unique apps and functionality that provide an intuitive and seamless TabletTM browsing experience.
Android 4.0.3 makes it easier to create folders on the Workspace with simple drag and drop gestures. Users can also dismiss recently-used apps with a swipe to boost system performance and prolong battery life. The new platform enables the TabletTM to offer a more responsive browser, allowing the user to toggle instantly between desktop- and mobile-optimised web sites. Pages can also be saved for offline reading in areas that are not Wi-Fi enabled.
In addition to the standard enhancements provided by Android 4.0.3, Sony has created a line-up of signature apps to further personalise the device's multimedia interface, reinforcing its position of a personal entertainment hub.
Sony TabletTM users can now directly access and view content stored on a removable full-sized SD card, making it an even more attractive choice for viewing photos and video clips shot on a digital camera or camcorder. Inserting the camera's SD card into Sony TabletTM allows users to view content on the detail-packed touchscreen or store onto the Sony TabletTM.
Frequently used functions are kept in easy reach with a new Sony-unique ‘Small Apps' update. An ‘always-on-top' launcher icon provides instant access to Browser, Remote Control and Calculator apps while using other TabletTM features. This functionality highlights the device's enhanced perceptiveness allowing users to navigate more easily to their favourite websites, change TV channels or do quick calculations while viewing miscellaneous content.
Android 4.0.3 also offers dramatically increased camera and photo solutions. Alongside the new operating system's enriched editing features, Sony has added a wider choice of Slideshow Templates to maximize the photo viewing enjoyment.
Beautifully styled and easy to carry, Sony TabletTM connects users to an exciting world of immersive online entertainment and easy content sharing.
All Sony TabletTM owners will be automatically notified and offered the option to upgrade their operating system to Android Version 4.0.3.
