Spinneys Continues to Expand in Egypt
Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 14 - 06 - 2015

Spinneys continues to expand in Egypt with its recent opening of a new store in Hurghada on the 12th of June. The store is strategically located in the Dahar district at the heart of the city center. The opening marks an important milestone for the company as it continues its expansion across the country through 2015.
"The new store in Hurghada reflects our ongoing commitment to the Egyptian market," Spinneys CEO Mohanad Adly, said. "In 2015, we want to introduce Spinneys to as many Egyptian consumers as we possibly can, and we will be looking at locations not just in Cairo, but across various other cities as well."
Spinneys opened its first branch in Egypt 9 years ago and since then has made significant strides to increase its presence locally and also to enhance the brand's image and awareness. The company's new growth strategy is focused on reaching shoppers in urban areas with new smaller formats like supermarkets, while also offering fresh innovations in its core hypermarket stores.
"Our growth plan looks different today than it did a few years back, driven by shoppers' expectations for convenience and high service levels", said Adly. "The smaller supermarket format offers an exceptional quick-trip shopping experience to meet those needs for consumers who are becoming busier every day. The varying size and locations of these stores will enable Spinneys to create a unique shopping experience with an extensive food variety customized for each community."
Spinneys started in Cairo in 2005 and brought a unique shopping experience to Egyptian consumers, who have an affinity for high quality goods and services and great value.Currently, the retailer employs over 1,200 employees and the new store has created an additional 120 new jobs, all of whom were recruited locally from the Red Sea governorate.
The multi-million pound investment in this 1,600 m2 store has provided shoppers with the latest Spinneys offer, including fresh meat, fruit & vegetables, deli & dairy, bakery as well as an extensive range of non-food and general merchandise items.Customers are also able to use the popular loyalty scheme, providing them with the opportunity to collect and redeem points with every purchase.
This is the second store opening this year following the successful launch of the Mokattam branch in Cairo in May. Two other Spinneys store locations, including a store in Haram and one in New Cairo, will also be celebrating launches in 2015.
