IOSCO's Emerging Markets starts its Annual Meetings in Egypt today

"Growth & Emerging Markets" committee of the International Organization for Securities Commission (IOSCO) has kicked off its annual meetings on Monday in Egypt. It is being hosted by Egypt's market regulator, the Egyptian Financial Supervisory Authority (EFSA).
The annual meetings are organised for the first time in Egypt, in the presence of David Wright -IOSCO's Secretary General, and Sherif Samy - Chairman of the Egyptian Financial Supervisory Authority (EFSA).
Over one hundred leaders and experts from 40 regulatory jurisdiction represents the largest gathering of capital markets regulators participates in the meetings that discuss key issues affecting emerging financial markets.
The conference agenda includes three main themes: "deepening bonds markets and fostering securitization", "derivatives in emerging markets" and "unlocking opportunities in ETFs in emerging markets".
The meetings will be held over two days followed by a one day conference 'Accelerating growth and development of emerging capital markets" to be inaugurated by the Minister of Investment Ashraf Salman.
Furthermore, The Growth and Emerging Markets Committee (GEM) is the largest Committee within IOSCO, representing 75% of the IOSCO's ordinary membership.
It seeks to promote the development and greater efficiency of emerging securities and futures markets by establishing principles and minimum standards, providing training programs and technical assistance for members and facilitating the exchange of information and transfer of technology and expertise.
Moreover, IOSCO is the international body that brings together the world's securities regulators and is recognized as the global standard setter for the securities sector, developing, implementing and promoting adherence to internationally recognized standards for securities regulation.
