9.36 million New Internet Users in Egypt During Q3 2014

Around 9.36 million new users have entered Egypt's internet market in the third quarter of 2014, according to the latest report by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology.
The total number of internet users in Egypt increased by 25.2% to 46.5 million during the third quarter.
Internet penetration rose to 54.35% at end of September 2014, compared to 44.23% at end of September 2013, representing an annual growth rate of 10.12%.
In addition, mobile users decreased by 2.8 percent to 94.76 million by end of September 2014, from end of September 2013, when they totalled 97.47 million. Mobile penetration fell to 110.76% at end of September 2014, compared to 116.09 million at end of September 2013, marking an annual decline of 5.32%.
The percentage of users accessing the internet through ADSL grew to around 2.98 million, marking an annual growth rate of 19.61%.
Furthermore, the Internet users through mobile during Q3 hiked to 20.34 million, representing an annual growth rate of 47.03%. The USB Modem users also surged to 4.02 million, with an annual increase of 300.000.
Moreover, total number of fixed-line subscriptions has steadied to 6.84 million subscriptions. Fixed line penetration reached about 8.12% by the end of September 2014, opposed to 8.28% at end of September 2013, representing an annual decline rate of 1.93%.
Meanwhile, the report revealed that the total number of post offices edged up to 3872 at the end of September 2014 from 3830 at end of September 2013, reflecting an annual growth rate of 1.10%. The average number of people served by individual post offices was 22.061 thousand persons by end of September 2014, marking an annual growth rate of 0.8%.
