Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 29 - 04 - 2024

Egypt's Minister of Transport Kamel El-Wazir met with Alstom CEO Henri Poupart on Monday and welcomed the establishment of the major industrial complex in Borg Al Arab, Alexandria, the Cabinet announced.
The planned complex will consist of two factories specialising in railway technology:
* The first factory will produce essential systems for railways and metros, such as signalling, communication, control, and command technologies.
* The second factory will focus on manufacturing electric traction locomotives for various purposes.
This initiative demonstrates Alstom's dedication to local manufacturing in Egypt, as per the statement.
Beyond fulfilling domestic needs, the industrial complex is aimed to become a regional hub, producing electrical systems and locomotives for export worldwide. This strategy has the potential to generate significant economic benefits for Egypt.
The project is further expected to create over 1,200 new job opportunities for Egyptian engineers and technicians, the statement mentioned.
