Bank Sohar organised the event with the full support and cooperation with Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Sultanate of Oman in order to showcase and highlight the products and services of Sri Lanka to potential businessmen, importers, investors and travel operators in the Sultanate of Oman.
Khalfan Rashid al Tal'ey, DGM Retail Banking, Bank Sohar, commented on this association, "Sri Lanka is a beautiful and prosperous nation, and having recently completed 25 years of diplomatic relations with the Sultanate, it made perfect sense for Bank Sohar to commemorate the occasion and join hands with the Sri Lankan trade community to support their Oman trade exhibition and food festival."
Bank Sohar sponsored the event with the aim of strengthening their relationship with the Sri Lankan community in the Sultanate and to support the development of the Sri Lankan economy by introducing and opening exposure to new trade opportunities and markets.
The inaugural Sri Lankan Trade Exhibition & Food Festival coincided with the celebration of Sri Lanka's 25 years of successful diplomatic relations with the Sultanate of Oman, in addition to the celebration of the 65th National Day festivities of Sri Lanka.
The event saw attendance from more than 30 exporters from Sri Lanka who participated and brought to the table a number of products and services in the sectors of Travel & Tourism, IT, HR, Education, Herbal, Spa Products, Handicrafts, Floriculture, Giftware, Lifestyle, Apparel, Gems, Jewellery, Tea, Fruits, Vegetables, Organic Products, Food, and Beverages among others.
Representing Bank Sohar, the CEO was joined by senior management and the wholesale banking team, who added their support to the initiative and learnt about Sri Lankan traditions and trade practices and their synergies with the Sultanate of Oman.
As a sponsor of the event, Bank Sohar also introduced the crowd to its wide range of products and services specifically available to non-resident and expatriate customers, including a presentation detailing the features and benefits of the Bank's Salary Accounts and Al Mumayaz Savings Scheme Account.
