Some Perks of Living Alone!
Published in Almasry Alyoum on 26 - 05 - 2011

I'm free as a bird!
I can eat anything-
I don't have to eat-
I don't have to cook.
I can keep my house a pig's pen!
I don't have to clean up anybody else's mess,
Or wash any of their dirty clothes,
Or cook for them,
Or mend for them,
Or shop for them....
Or I can keep my house spic and span,
shiny and clean,
and know that nobody will mess it up,
or dirty a dish,
or dirty a cup,
or dirty a sock,
or dirty a towel,
or dirty the floor,
or dirty anything....!
I can wake up when I want,
I can sleep when I want,
I can walk around the house stark naked,
I can sit at my computer the same way,
I can watch anything I want on TV,
I can shut the TV whenever I want,
I can roll around in a huge bed without bumping into somebody smelly,
Or somebody snoring,
Or somebody staring,
Or somebody waiting to ask for something...
I can stay on my computer for hours and hours, without explaining why...
I can stay for days at peace at home-
Nobody will interrupt my thoughts..
While reading a book,
Or praying,
Or watching something,
Or writing something,
Or making something,
Or cooking something,
Or sewing something,
Or painting something...
Or doing nothing.
And,
I can wear anything I want that I don't dare wear outside;
I can shut off the phones and pretend I wasn't home..
( Let them worry! Let them wonder!!)
I don't have to shut the bedroom door,
I don't have to shut the bathroom door,
I don't have to shut up...
I can talk to myself,
Or talk on the phone for hours...
I can act silly,
Or belly dance and applaud myself with enthusiasm.
I can stand on my head,
I can croak a song, to use my vocal chords so they won't become 'rusty.'
I can plan day trips,
And go freely alone,
And go abroad, without burdens and excess baggage,
And return,
while everybody will think I was at home all the time....!
And, I can can it all, and get a mate, to make my life miserable again!!!
