Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa on Tuesday expressed "concern" over recent escalations on the streets of Lebanon. He also asserted that dialogue represented the sole means of achieving safety and security in Lebanon, stressing the importance of adhering to the Lebanese constitution and principles of democracy in resolving differences between the nation's diverse factions. The Lebanese capital Beirut on Tuesday witnessed riots by supporters of former prime minister Saad Hariri in response to the appointment of Hezbollah-backed Najib Mikati as prime minister. Harri condemned the riots on Lebanese television and called on his supporters to confine themselves to democratic means of self-expression.
