Students from several Egyptian universities staged angry demonstrations outside Cairo University's main gate to condemn ongoing Israeli escalations in Jerusalem. Students clashed with Egyptian security forces deployed in the area, leading to several injuries on both sides. Students burned the Israeli flag and demanded that Israel halt its aggression against sacred Islamic sites, especially Jerusalem's iconic Al-Aqsa Mosque. One student protest group, the "Students for Al-Aqsa," issued a statement calling for the removal of the Israeli embassy, located less than 1km from the university. Similar demonstrations were staged in other governorates throughout the country. Mohamed Youssef, president of Beni Sueif University, reportedly led one such demonstration that was eventually joined by several professors. At Mansoura University, some 200 students associated with the Muslim Brotherhood also staged protests against Israeli provocations. Meanwhile, 1000 students at Sohag University gathered to condemn Arab leaders for their "shameful" passiveness in the face of Israeli aggression. Alexandria University students likewise held a demonstration at which they called for cutting Egypt's diplomatic ties with the self-styled Jewish state. Citizens of Beheira, too, staged protests, demanding that Arab and Islamic governments exert pressure on Israel, cut relations with it and expel all Israeli diplomats from their respective countries.
