The Egyptian Foreign Ministry denied yesterday inviting Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman to visit Cairo as reported by some media. Ambassador Hossam Zaki, spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, answered a question from diplomatic editors yesterday saying that Egypt's stance on this issue had not changed and that he was surprised to see this groundless issue re-appear. The Israeli Deputy Foreign Ministry Danny Ayalon had announced yesterday on the radio that Lieberman had been officially invited to visit Egypt, but that the period had not been determined yet. He had also added that Egypt and Israel had common interests.
Meanwhile, Egypt's Ambassador to the US Sameh Shoukry said at a dinner held at the embassy for a number of leaders of the American Jewish Committee that Egypt has always made great efforts to achieve peace in the Middle East.
