Fire Exchange in Giza Court; 13 Prosecutors Survived
Published in Almasry Alyoum on 20 - 05 - 2009

Unknown persons have exchanged fire in the courtroom of Al-Saf Court, Helwan. Some 30 bullets have been shot in the court's inner walls and the headquarters of Al-Saf Prosecution. There was horror among the heads of the criminal and misdemeanor courts. All persons were detained inside the court till the paper went to the press.
Divine providence saved the head of Al-Saf Prosecution and another 12 prosecutors, who left their offices to the prosecutor's rest house for fear of being attacked by the unknown defendants.
Chancellor Hamada Al-Sawy, First Attorney General of South Giza Prosecutions, informed Abdel Maguid Mahmoud, the Public Prosecutor, of the details of the incident. The prosecution decided to send for the criminal lab to examine the effects of the shots and the damage.
The court's glass facades and windows were broken. The prosecution assigned Helwan Investigation to bring the accused, uncover the causes of the incident and seize the weapons.

The story started when Mohamed al-Qadi, head of Al-Saf Prosecution, was surprised by hearing the sound of shots from automatic rifles outside the court. After that, arms holders entered the court and opened fire randomly in the lobby.
They wounded a young man in his head. He was taken to Al-Qasr Al-Aini Hospital in bad condition. Al-Qadi phoned his superiors, who asked him to move to the prosecution's rest house as soon as possible.
Accompanied by another 12 prosecutors, he has immediately moved to the rest house. Panic swept through the heads of the courts, and they moved to their offices. Lawyers, relatives of the accused and workers in the court ran outside the court amid screams.
An eyewitness told Al-Masry Al-Youm: "The shooting lasted for about half an hour. The effects of the shooting are clear on the court's inside and outside walls. It was discovered that the prosecution was launching investigations with four accused in a fight between Abu Hamad and Al-Darli families, who were arrested since last Monday.
The prosecution was about to release them after receiving the results of the investigations. Investigations have been launched to know the defendants and how they entered the court carrying heavy weapons and where the court guards were."
