Cairo – Commenting on the recent Israeli violations in Al-Aqsa Mosque, Dr. Ibrahim al-Hudhud, former dean of Al-Azhar University, said that the mobilization of all Muslims and dedication of all our resources have become the sole obligation upon all Islamic religious authorities, on top of which is Al-Azhar. The Islamic action in counteraction of the Israeli violations in Al-Aqsa Mosque has become pressingly needed more than ever before. Al-Hudhud's remarks came during his phone call with an Egyptian news channel to which he said: "Al-Azhar has repeatedly warned against continuing such violations against Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Palestinians. Al-Azhar has always been calling upon all Muslims to positively respond to this stage's demands in a way that raises their overall awareness of the gravity of the issue that is completely shocking the entire Islamic Ummah [i.e. community or world]. He pointed to the need for an Islamic global action, with more than 1.5 billion people, to stand united in defending Islamic holy sites and end Israeli violations against Al-Aqsa Mosque. "It is high time to put an end to the procrastination policies of Israel. We greatly deplore the fact that Israeli occupation forces are committing offences in the holy sites in Jerusalem, which are among the most sacred to Muslims." Al-Aqsa Mosque, which is located inside Al-Haram Al-Sharif compound, is considered the third holiest site in Islam. The mosque is also located at what Jews believe to be the site of the Temple Mount.
