Abidjain - Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry asserted the necessity of boosting cooperation between Egypt and Cote d'Ivoire in confronting the phenomenon of terrorism and drying up its roots. The remarks were made by the Egyptian top diplomat during his meeting with his Cote d'Ivorian counterpart Marcel Amon-Tanoh on the fringe of the 44th session of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) Foreign Ministers Council, currently in session in Abidjain. Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said in press statements on Tuesday that Shoukry expressed thanks to the Ivorian foreign minister on the good organization of the conference. The Egyptian top diplomat also underlined the importance of further enhancing bilateral relations in all fields, praising the role of Al Azhar and Darul Iftaa in spreading the moderate values of Islam. For his part, the Ivorian foreign minister thanked the Egyptian minister on his participation in the conference. He also thanked Egypt on its support for nominating his country to join non-permanent member states at the UN Security Council during the period from 2018 to 2019. He also expressed his willingness to pay a visit to Egypt soon. As per mutual cooperation in the field of development, the Ivorian minister pressed the need for buttressing cooperation among the South-South countries. The two sides also welcomed cooperation in the field of combating terrorism.
