Cairo – An Egyptian member of parliament called for stopping prank shows broadcast on Egyptian TV channels in Ramadan. "Ramez Underground Show," was singled out, the MP saying that such shows tarnish Egypt's image. MP Soad al-Masry told reporters on Sunday that most of the episodes of these shows do significant harm to Egypt's image by reflecting the scenes of violence, poverty and bad habits of some people in slum areas. She pointed out that people who have pranks pulled on them appeare improper in some shows, including "Ramez Underground", and this contributes to the lack of setting good examples. The arts convey good messages and goals so such shows, which humiliate actors and actresses, should not be broadcast, according to the MP. Ramadan is the holy fasting month in Muslim-majority Egypt.
