Minya (Upper Egypt) - Major General Essam Bedewi, Governor of Minya, said that the incident of St. Samuel Monastery occurred on a side road on the western desert road and was carried out by terrorist groups. He pointed out that the terrorists underwent training in Libya. On Friday, gunmen attacked a group of Egyptian Christians, who were travelling to the monastery of Saint Samuel the Confessor in Minya governorate ( 245 km south of Cairo), killing 29 people and wounding 25 others. During a phone call with Al Hayah Channel, Bedewi added that the masked gunmen used automatic rifles to ambush the bus and robbed the victims after killing them. He explained that the victims were coming from Beni Suef when they were met by the terrorists who opened fire on the bus, a truck and a microbus. They asked the victims to utter the two declarations of the Islamic faith, [There is no God but One and Muhammed is His prophet], before proceeding to killing them.
