Cairo - Four Egyptian artifacts, which were stolen and smuggled out of Egypt, were retrieved from Britain and was received by Ministry of Antiquities, as announced by the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities. The Ministry further added that those artifacts were restored and were placed in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. "Two of the artifacts were displayed in an auction house in the UK while the other two pieces were in the possession of an antiquities dealer in London," a ministry official, Shaaban Abdel Gawad, said. During the chaos that spread across the Egyptian society in the wake of the 2011 revolution, that resulted in the toppling of the Mubarak's regime, while the others two were stolen in 2013, as reported by the Ministry. The percentage of antiquity thefts increased in Egypt by 90% during the security turmoil that spread across the society, in comparison to the percentage of thefts in the pre-2011 period, Egyptian officials stated.
