Paris - Egyptian MP Abdel Rehim Ali, Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of Al-Bawaba Newspaper, met Egyptian ambassador Moushira Khattab – Egypt's 2017 nominee for UNESCO Director General – and expressed his personal support in behalf of Al-Bawaba to win the UNESCO elections. Ali asserted that Khattab would be the best representative of the African continent and the Arab world in the face of the extremist organizations that seek to distort the Middle East region. The nomination of Khattab was not the first of its kind; as Egypt had previously nominated the founding director of Bibliotheca Alexandrina Ismael Serag El-Din for the UNESCO director-general position in 2014. The Mubarak era's former Minister of Culture Farouk Hosni had also been nominated for the same post in 2009.
