"Cabinet Information" illustrates the fact of the imposition of a legal penalty for frequent childbearing
Published in Albawaba on 23 - 02 - 2017

Cairo - The Cabinet's information and decision taking support center negated what was spread in numerous Websites and social media Webpages about the news of the demand of the Minister of Social Solidarity during her speech in the UNICEF's seventieth anniversary celebration for imposing a legal penalty against frequent childbearing, pointing that this news is completely untrue.
In the report for clarifying the facts issued on Wednesday, the center explained that it communicated with the Ministry of Social Solidarity in this regard and it denied this news wholly.
The center confirmed that in her speech during the celebration of the seventieth anniversary of the UNICEF, the Minister did not mention at all the demand to impose legal penalties against frequent childbearing, but her speech was grabbed from its context and was deliberately distorted by some suspected electronic elements and Webpages.
The Ministry explained that what was literally mentioned by the Minister during her speech is as follows: "the families who give birth to six, seven, eight and nine children and leave their children without care and attention, those children might end up to become without education or protection, therefore, those families should be held accountable"; in the speech of the Minister, it was mentioned that the census in Egypt has reached 92 million out of whom 37% are under the age of 17. Nine million children of them are under poverty line and she indicated that most of those children are exposed to multiple forms of physical violence, even severer than beating, such early marriage of girls, female genitals mutilation, childbearing of young mothers, frequent birth giving to children, leaving children in the streets without care and attention, children's dropping out from schools, child labor and child narcotic addiction.
The Ministry appealed to the various mass media and to citizens not to be misled by the rumors that are transferred by the suspected Webpages and Websites of the terrorist groups, which aim to destabilize the security and stability of the country and to distort the sectors of the State. It is noteworthy that the speech of the Minister is recorded and one can follow the video on the Webpage and Website of the Ministry on the YouTube in order to check what was exactly said.
