Member of Libyan Parliament 'Hassan Saleh al-Zarqa' stressed on the dangerous role played by some regional and external parties in fuelling the Libyan conflict, mainly by supporting terrorist entities that stationed in Libya after February 17 revolution. al-Zarqa added in his interview with Al-Bawaba News Portal reporter 'Ali Tarfaya' that the support of Qatar and Turkey to militant groups is clearly visible to all, as Qatar have a battalion in the Libyan city of Misurata, called "Doha battalion," while Ankara has funded and treated Islamic State (IS) leaders in Libya. The Libyan MP mentioned the existence of five major terrorist entities within Libya, including Muslim Brotherhood (MB) terrorist group, al-Qaeda, Ansar al-Sharia, Islamic State (IS) and another terrorist entity called "Jama'at al-Tawhid," that declares allegiance to Algerian terrorist 'Mokhtar Belmokhtar'. He stressed that the political process to resolve the Libyan crisis was stalled by international interventions, adding that there were high hopes that Libyan Political Agreement, which was signed on 17 December 2015, in Morocco, would be a vital factor in reaching a settlement. al-Zarqa accused Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) Martin Kobler of being bias to militant groups, after he has insisted on integrating these terrorist groups into state institutions, especially security agencies. What is the alternative to the Libyan Political Agreement, which was signed on 17 December 2015, in Morocco, especially in light of its near expiry? It has already expired, as under the terms of the same agreement, which stipulates that the agreement becomes invalid after a year, if the Government of National Accord did not receive vote of confidence from Parliament within a year from the signing of the agreement. Such failure is a result of Kobler's persistence on being bias to militant groups, which controls the Libyan capital Tripoli. Since he assumed office, he became biased to militant groups, as he was keen to integrate them in the Libyan military, as well as forming three armies in Libya, one in Tripoli including MB and another like it in the south, in addition to the Libyan army led by Marshal Khalifa Haftar. But Kobler described the Libyan Parliament as "Stubborn," and said that resolving the crisis would be at the hands of the next generations, what do you think of his statement? Kobler's statement in last week that resolving the crisis would be at the hands of the next generations comes as a result of his failure to meet with a number of MPs, as he has been besieged by protesters at Al Abraq International Airport and forced him to return back from where he came from, because he is not desirable nor welcome in Libya. Emir of Qatar was in Algeria and called for a new Libyan dialogue under the supervision of Algeria and Tunisia's Ennahda, what's your comment on that? Qatar is trying to play an influential role in the Libyan scene and attempting to invest its relationship with Libya's neighbouring countries such as Tunisia and Algeria to support its allies in Libya. al-Zarqa stressed that the support of Qatar and Turkey to militant groups is clearly visible to all, as Qatar have a battalion in Misurata, called "Doha battalion," while Ankara has funded and treated IS leaders in Libya. In my opinion, the coming phase requires a military council to rule the country for a year in order for security and stability to return, and then parliamentary and presidential elections can be held, as outlined in the Constitution. What's your comment on the attack carried out by the Defense Brigades militia against the Libyan oil terminals? The attack was on Tuesday night by the Defense Brigades militias from Benghazi, with the cooperation of the Ministry of Defense of the Government of National Accord, and thank God the Libyan army managed to eliminate large numbers of militants and captured dozens more, including terrorist leaders. Can the Libyan army led by Haftar be able to resolve the battle in Libya's favor and liberate the country from terrorism? There are international pressures being practiced against the Libyan military in favor of terrorist and paramilitary entities, which receive direct support from several international parties, such as Qatar and Turkey. Qatar have a battalion in Misurata, called "Doha battalion," which includes 150 militants. While Ankara has funded and treated IS leaders in Libya. What is the most probable scenario after the Battle of Sirte? All scenarios are open in Libya and military decisiveness is one of the scenarios presented. However, al-Zarqa expressed his belief and confidence in the Libyan army's ability to liberate the country from terrorism, especially after the army succeeded in achieving victory in a number of battles against the militants.
