A court in Cairo, Egypt sentenced on Tuesday eight militants belonging to what is known as the Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) to life in prison in a case known in the local media as the "ISIS in Cairo" case. The public prosecution had accused the suspects of joining an illegal group; communicating with a terrorist group that is based abroad (ISIS); and assaulting public and private properties.
