ISIS Loses Sunnite Base in Western Provinces
Published in Albawaba on 11 - 07 - 2016

After kicking out Al-Qaeda from Al Anbar, west of Iraq in 2007, and forming Iraqi Sahwa forces no one from the Iraqi political figures expected a new version of this organization be born after years. Yet, this time the purpose was not to expand in Al Anbar Province only but to occupy around two thirds of the Iraqi lands.
The neglect policies adopted by the previous Iraqi government, Nouri al-Maliki tenor 2006-2014, was the direct reason behind the revolution which launched in 2013 before being exploited by ISIS that witnessed birth on the remains of Al-Qaeda.
Two years after ISIS expansion in the western provinces and moving towards other provinces even approaching Baghdad, the organization is not in its best condition. ISIS started to lose militarily but made sure to establish public base that supports it.
Deputy Muhammad al‐Halbousi called for taking any necessary procedure to ensure the full implementation of the law and punishment for the terrorists who destroyed the cities and provinces. Al-Halbousi suggested that the families themselves wash their hands of any member of the family who is involved in ISIS, for the sake of the collective benefit.
He called for joining hands to build a forgiving society and to support the security foundations plus to eradicate the ISIS mentality through negotiating and creating substitutes.
Iraqi Parliament Member Abdul Qaher Al-Samarrai told Asharq Al-Awsat that major Sunnite foundations have a big role to help people think right and to get rid of the takfiri intellect.
In the same context, member at the Iraqi parliament Misha'an al-Juburi told Asharq Al-Awsat that a successful experience was applied in Salah Ed-Din where a family prohibited an ISIS member from coming back home.
