A police officer was reportedly killed on Wednesday and two conscripts were injured in an IED blast in Rafah City, North Sinai, according to police and medical sources. Security sources said the IED went off as an armored vehicle was passing on the international road, killing a lieutenant and injuring two conscripts. The perpetrators had planted the IED on the roadside. The victims and the dead body were transferred to Al-Arish Military Hospital. Since the ouster of former President Mohamed Morsi in July 2013, a string of deadly blasts have hit army and police personnel and facilities in the restive peninsula.
