An Egyptian official said that his country is seeking to restore all its stolen artifacts from Israel، media reported. The official's statement came a day after two Paranoiac sarcophagus lids went on show at the Egyptian Museum after they were returned from Israel. In a press conference the assistant to the minister of foreign affairs، Eman Al-Far expressed "Egypt's appreciation for Israel's return of these two pieces، and looks forward to the delivery of the rest of Egypt's artifacts." According to the statement، this is the second recovery of Egyptian artefacts from Israel that took place in recent years. The statement stated that the first was in the 1990s، when relics discovered in Sinai by Israeli archaeologists between 1967 and 1989، were returned to Egypt. Al-Far said that the two covers were taken illegally from Egypt and their return came after efforts were exerted by the culture ministries of the two countries as well as others.
