The Egyptian Museum will receive Tuesday rare sarcophagus lids coming from Israel, to be kept in stock of the museum until restoring the monuments, al-Bawaba News reported on Monday. In a ceremony at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jerusalem, Israeli government handed over rare stolen sarcophagus lids brought into the country by antiquities looters to the Egyptian ambassador, Hazem Khairat on May 22. The antiquities are two ancient sarcophagus lids, which were seized four years ago by inspectors from the Antiquities Robbery Prevention Unit during an inspection in market shops in Jerusalem's Old City. The lids are made of wood and covered with a layer of plaster, and ornately decorated with paintings and hieroglyphics.
