The council of Journalists' Syndicate will hold emergency meeting on Monday, to discuss the repercussions of the imprisonment of the head of syndicate, Yehia Qalash, secretary-general Gamal Abdel Rehim and undersecretary Khaled el-Balshy, al-Bawaba News reported. The meeting will call on holding urgent general assembly within the upcoming few days, to protest on the imprisonment of the syndicate's leaders. Qalash, Balshy and Abdel Rehim are being investigated over accusations of hiding wanted journalists inside the syndictae. The crisis was triggered earlier this month when security forces stormed the syndicate, and arrested two journalists were staging sit-in inside.
