In a ceremony at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jerusalem, Israeli government will hand over rare stolen sarcophagus lids brought into the country by antiquities looters to the Egyptian ambassador, Hazem Khairat on Sunday, according to Israeli news website Ynet News. Israel will hand over the antiquities in an attempt to improve relations between Jerusalem and Cairo, following the speech of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi where he called on Israelis not to give up the opportunity for peace on Tuesday. The antiquities are two ancient sarcophagus lids, which were seized four years ago by inspectors from the Antiquities Robbery Prevention Unit during an inspection in market shops in Jerusalem's Old City. The lids are made of wood and covered with a layer of plaster, and ornately decorated with paintings and hieroglyphics.
